Full Moon in Gemini
With the energy of Gemini and Sagittarius at play, I have found myself a bit scatty in the writing of this post. My thoughts keep getting pulled in different directions as ideas come to me. It feels like there are so many things playing out, so many things that want to be said, another way to approach it. So please forgive my meandering thoughts as you come on this journey with me.
With so much happening on the world stage (including the UK election being held on the day of the Full Moon) the bigger picture feels especially huge. But, I am choosing to bring this post back to you, the individual. I think of it as the astrological equivalent of ‘think global, act local’ whereby working on ourselves ultimately helps shape the collective.
Firstly, I see this Full Moon as a chance to own our duality, our light and shade. It is in the sign of Gemini, the twins. Gemini reminds us that there is more than one side to who we are: there is always a part of us that we show to the world, and a part that we keep hidden; there is a part that is sweet and loving and kind, and a part that is bitter and jealous and judgemental; there is who we are at work and with others, and who we are at home by ourselves.
The Moon opposing the Sun in Sagittarius is asking us to see the whole picture, to see the truth of what is working and what isn’t. It’s time to own all the parts of ourselves: to have the courage to change what we can, accept what we cannot, and have the wisdom to love ourselves throughout the process.
Secondly, relationships play a big role in this Full Moon. Venus cosies up to Saturn and Pluto in the sign of Capricorn, and with this we must ask ourselves ‘do my relationships bring value to my life?’ A simple way to gauge this is to notice how you feel after spending time with someone: Uplifted, supported and happy? Or drained, doubting and low? For those relationships that constantly feel like a struggle, it is time to decide if you want to put in the work to make it better, or if it is time to move on. You deserve to have the best possible people around you.
Venus is also about our own self-worth and self-love, and if you are lacking in this department—if your boundaries are weak, if you have a tendency to people-please instead of advocating for your own needs, if you believe that you are unworthy and undeserving of love and money and all things good—then use the energy of Saturn and Pluto to shift this. Work through things with a therapist, kinesiologist, coach or healer, attend a womens/mens circle, read books (and do the work suggested in them), use tapping/EFT—whatever you need to do. Once you start seeing yourself in a different way, your relationships with others will shift.
Venus/Saturn/Pluto make a nice aspect over to Mars in Scorpio which will help us tap into our warrior spirit and find the chutzpah to assert ourselves. And all of these planets also align nicely with Neptune in Pisces, which reminds us that the healing work we do on ourselves ripples out to the collective.
To round it off, our friends Uranus (still retrograde in Taurus) and Jupiter (freshly in Capricorn) are having a nice tête-à-tête about how we can change and expand and creating something new that lasts.
And if you feel like I have been banging on about change quite a lot recently, you’re right. But honestly, don’t you feel different to the person you were at the start of 2019? And also, don’t you feel like you still have a ways to go?
In this modern society we expect things to be instant. We want our internet fast, our food delivered quickly, our headaches to disappear when we take a tablet. And this has led us to wanting our self-growth and healing to be instantaneous too. But it doesn’t work like that.
Up until the start of this year I lived next to an empty block which was overgrown with trees and plants and weeds. One day, someone came along and cleared the land. It was a stark contrast and changed our outlook. We were told that a new school would be built there. A couple of months later, they knocked down some houses on the other side of this block. (By this stage I had moved houses, but I still regularly pass by and watch the progress with interest.) For awhile, the bare earth was all there was. Now they have started getting the new foundations happening and progress seems to be moving swiftly.
I’m telling you this because this is what we go through all the time: there is something in our lives which gets removed so something new can take its place. But often that something new takes time to be built. Even when you aren’t seeing progress, know that the work is still being done, that you need to lay good foundations to create a strong structure that can last.
We have excavated, we have planned and now we are starting to lay our foundations so that we can put up the structure and walls and the roof (even if we’re not really sure how just yet) in 2020.
Full Moons are about releasing what we don’t need. This last Full Moon of the decade (!) is a chance to own what we are moving on from. To knock down the final houses in order to build something new, to know who we are and what we stand for, and to have our ride-or-die squad by our side while we do it.
