New Moon in Taurus

New Moon in Taurus, 11/12 May 2021

I couldn’t start this post without making sure I was comfortable and my physical needs were met. I slowly and mindfully made a pot of chai. I lit a scented candle. I put on a warm jumper, a blanket on my lap and turned the heater on. Then, and only then, did I feel ready to write.

And that’s Taurus, right? Wanting our senses to be stimulated in a pleasing way, wanting to be comfortable, taking its time.

Good things take time. The world is in a flux at the moment. We are at the beginning of a new era while still clearing out the old. It’s a complicated job. It can be easy to get swept up in theories and what-ifs—such intangible hot air—when what we really need is to put our two feet on the ground. Feel the earth. Be present with what is.

It can also be hard to set intentions at this point in time. Things are changing around us so quickly that it’s hard to know if it’s worth the effort to work towards something. My tip is to pinpoint how you want to feel, then do things that help you feel that way. And well, Taurus wants to feel good. It wants to feel secure. It wants to feel pleasure. What will help you feel that way?

Connecting with this feeling is oh so important. Jupiter moves into Pisces on May 14, with Mercury entering its pre-retrograde shadow in Gemini on the 15th. Eclipses in Sagittarius and Gemini are on the horizon. There is so much changeable energy coming our way, and if we are not grounded in who we are and how we want to feel, we may find ourselves being pushed and pulled in every direction.

Slow down. Make sure you get some rest before the energy turns up to 11. Luxuriate in the last of the Taurus vibes in the same way you bask in the last rays of afternoon sun.

Venus has moved into Gemini where she feels the urge to be a social butterfly. It could be really nice to gather some friends together for a New Moon intention-setting party, complete with a delicious feast.

Neptune is sextile the New Moon, allowing us easy access to tap into our imagination and dreams. What excites you? What have you been hiding away? It’s time to set the steps to bring that out into the open.

We need to focus on the future, not the past. You can draw upon the experiences and lessons and skills you have acquired in the past, but keep your eyes ahead, not behind. This is not a time to be recreating what was but choosing to keep moving ahead. Mercury brushing up against the North Node in Gemini (forming the pointy end of a yod kite—finger of god) will pull us into new ways of thinking, with Saturn in Aquarius helping us along.

Taurus does like things to stay the same, but just think about how much more comfortable your life could be and look towards that. Chase pleasure and joy. Do what makes you feel good.
