New Moon in Virgo

New Moon in Virgo, 6/7 September 2021

Virgo is the healer of the zodiac. At this New Moon we are given an opportunity to be our own healers, to fix our personal energy leaks, and renew ourselves.

The word Virgo comes from the traditional meaning of the word virgin, as someone who is whole unto themselves. Using this sense of wholeness, Virgo is about taking a holistic view of your health (that mind, body, spirit triad). When something is off with one it weakens the others.

Each sign is paired with another and Virgo’s mate is Pisces. While Virgo is earth and all about the here and now, Pisces is water and all about the subconscious. The earth holds the water and the water fills up earth’s cracks. Both are needed. This pairing teaches us that in order to fully understand what is happening in our bodies we must also look at what is happening in the subconscious.

When we get sick we can’t do a lot besides rest. We sleep more, allowing ourselves time with the messages that our dreams send us, and have more time to think. Perhaps we realise how we have been overworking and vow to bring more balance into our lives. Maybe an injury forces us to treat our body with more kindness and gentle movement rather than pushing it beyond its limits. In short, the times when we convalesce are there when we have gone too far in one direction and need to heal.

The best way to avoid illness and injury is to take care of our body, mind and spirit. We must feed our body with the nutrients it needs and move it in a way that feels best. We must pay attention to our thoughts and feelings (especially at this time with the added stress of living through a pandemic and all it entails) and make sure we treat them with the same kindness and respect as when we are physically unwell. And we must spend time in stillness, in devotion, in meditation, mindfulness, mantra, prayer—whatever it is that helps you connect with your higher self. Books such as Louise Hay’s You Can Heal Your Life can also teach you about the connection between the mind and body.

Precision. Detail. Virgo looks at what’s going on and sees what needs to improve, what tweaks are needed to make everything run a little smoother. This New Moon is an invitation to cast a discerning eye over your health, habits and work and make the necessary adjustments.

Perhaps it is around how, why, when and where you work. Maybe it’s whether the structure of your day is really the best for you, or whether you should try a new form of exercise or just cut down on the amount of alcohol you’ve been consuming in lockdown.

The Pisces connection with Virgo also shows us that we all need some sort of escape from our lives. A common and oft-abused method is drugs and alcohol so be sure to catch yourself if you are regularly reaching for these as an escape. Some people get lost in movies, books and TV shows. Others daydream or lose themselves when they are painting or playing music. We all need to give ourselves a break from reality from time-to-time so when you are mapping out your new routine, be sure to include moments of fantasy and respite.

This New Moon has a lots of trines going on. Trines are when planets are four signs apart, which puts them in the same element (fire, earth, air, water). Because of this, the energy flows easily.

First up, the New Moon is trine Uranus in Taurus. Uranus has been shaking up the economy, our relationship with money and our sense of stability ever since it entered Taurus in 2018. This aspect will shake up our thoughts about how we are all living and working. It’s about putting a price on our work and our freetime.

The trine of Venus in Libra and Jupiter in Aquarius will enhance these thoughts around money and also our relationships (including our relationship with money). It will amplify our values and bring a sense of optimism that we can have what we want.

Mars in Virgo and Pluto in Capricorn makes up the final trine. These two planets are about our power and energy. Mars can sometimes be egoistic, but Pluto reminds us that we need to act from a sense of service rather than thinking about what we will get out of it. Do the work for the highest good for all. When your actions are true, the rewards will come.

The energy of a Virgo New Moon is about getting your life in order: your health, your habits, your daily tasks and how you can help others. Thinking about what it is you can give to others—how your work helps serve a greater purpose—is part of this.

And ultimately, it’s about how you can show up whole and complete each and every day.
