The climb

Updated: Feb 7, 2021

New Moon in Capricorn, 13 January 2021

I have just read the post I wrote around this time last year about the Full Moon Eclipse in Cancer, the Saturn and Pluto conjunction and Uranus going direct.

This weekend marks the start of something new. What you no longer need in your life will be handed a redundancy.

And well, after that weekend the coronavirus started to really spread which changed all of our lives forever.

2020 was a tough year for everyone. It stripped us all raw in one way or another. There is much hope out there that 2021 will be a better year. Will it though? All of the There will be challenges. Much of the astrology of 2021 is framed around the Saturn-Uranus squares on February 17, June 14 and December 24.

Squares bring tension to begin with, and these two planets are also very different: Saturn brings structure and form, yet Uranus wants freedom from this, to break it down, innovate and change. It’s a challenge between the old and new, change and the status quo. If you’ve been craving some stability, you’ll have to wait a little longer.

These squares will play out in our personal lives, and you will feel it the most based on where it is in your chart (contact me for a reading to learn more). It will also play out on the global stage, of course. In the past, Saturn-Uranus aspects have coincided with stock market crashes, economic instability and high unemployment. It’s not all doom and gloom though. On a positive note, it can also mean change and innovation with science and technology, with people thinking outside the box and trying new approaches to things.

But that’s the flavour of the year to come. Let’s just pull back and focus on what’s right in front of us. Right now, we have the New Moon in Capricorn.

Capricorn is about mastery. It teaches us how to be the CEO in our own lives. Ruled by Saturn, it creates structure and form and reminds us that we need to put in the work to get what we want. It’s about taking responsibility for your actions and creating something for future generations. Wherever you have Capricorn in your chart is where this new moon will be playing out. Find out more here.

The thing about Capricorn is that it knows how to reach a goal, even if that goal takes a long time to reach. It is tenacious, focused, patient. It is in it for the long-haul. It can navigate rocky terrain. If it slips, it gets back up and just ... keeps ... climbing.

This New Moon will be at 23° Capricorn, just past the point of last years Saturn-Pluto conjunction (22°46). If 2020 was about demolition, now we are able to start making plans for the new building—one that has never been seen before. It’s a blessing really. We know the drill around COVID now. We have spent a lot of time working out what we value and what is important to us. And now we can use this New Moon to set about creating our legacy in this new world.

Venus is currently in Capricorn, which will help us zone in on our values and desires. She’s trined with Mars in Taurus, and the combination of these two planets in earth signs will help us with our stubborn focus.

Uranus stations direct on January 14, indicating that some unexpected events will quickly stir things up again. Mercury is now in Aquarius where he’ll be spending a bit of time thanks to a retrograde at the end of this month. There will be a lot of information being spread very quickly. There may be some breakthroughs in relation to a vaccine but restrictions in how it is distributed.

There is a reason that so many books and movies centre around a person rising against all odds. We want to see these stories because it reflects in us our own struggles and inspires us to keep going.

This New Moon, plant the seeds for what you want to grow this year. You might not have the energy to start working toward them just yet (you may need to wait until the New Moon in Aries in March for that burst of enthusiastic energy for that), but it is helpful to start plotting and planning. In fact, I encourage you to take your time with this—like I said, Capricorn is patient and focused, so you want to make sure that you get it right. You can even set your new moon intention to be ‘my legacy comes to me in perfect clarity’ and then allow the ideas to drop into your consciousness over the next few weeks.

Get ready for the climb.
