Full Moon in Capricorn

3 July 2023

A person wearing a mask kneeling in neon lights

I write this off the back of a rough week. A friend of mine died quite suddenly. Earlier this year two colleagues of mine passed away. All three of these women were young and vibrant, with much passion for the work they put out into the world.

Grief brings up many things and the process is different for everyone. While I continue to flow through the emotions and process the loss, one thing that hits me is how they lived their lives and the impact of their legacy.

The Measure by Nikki Erlick explores the idea of the value we put on life. The story opens with people around the world mysteriously receiving a box with a ribbon in it. It transpires that the length of the ribbon relates to how long you will live. And yet the deeper message of the story is the value in how you choose to live your life.

This is the lesson of Capricorn. It’s the climbing of the metaphorical mountain, the mastery you attain along the way. It’s what you are creating and bringing to the world, how you are remembered.

A legacy doesn’t mean you must be well-known and do something that will put you in the history books. It is how you choose to live your life, the work you do. It is the experiences you have, the things you learn and teach others, the communities you are part of. Not to mention the children you help guide to adulthood and beyond (as a parent, step-parent, foster parent, grandparent, godparent, aunty, uncle, teacher, sporting coach, neighbour, friend … the list goes on, it takes a village).

I help bring awareness to your personal energy shifts with a detailed chart reading, process and accept your experience with Holistic Counselling and release with EFT.

Capricorn rules the knees, a reminder to be strong, agile and kneel humbly as you develop your legacy. I have a post-it note above my desk on which I’ve written the quote 'Climb mountains not so the world can see you, but so you can see the world.’ (David McCullough Jr.).

Set goals that come from the heart (not the ego) and enjoy the journey along the way.

Prompts for the Full Moon in Capricorn

At the Full Moon in Capricorn we look to the seeds we planted 6 months ago. Revisit any intentions or goals you set and assess how they are going. Allow yourself to pivot or change if necessary. And if you are having trouble deciding what you’d like to do (personally, professionally, physically, spiritually, emotionally) then consider the following:

  • Choose what interests you

  • Choose what challenges you

  • Choose what energises you

  • Choose what is important to you

  • How would you feel if you did or didn’t do this thing?

  • Ask yourself, what impact will this activity have:

- on my life?

- on the lives of the people/community around me?

When I opened up Insight Timer today, the quote that greeted me was ‘Because you’re alive, everything is possible’ (Tich Nhat Hanh). Do the things you want to do. Live your life. Leave your legacy.
