Ladies and Gentleman, it is with much fanfare that I introduce you to the New Moon in Leo.
Leo season reminds us of the importance of fun, pleasure, love, generosity, having the courage to create our lives and shining in our own spotlight. And it comes with a side of childlike innocence that we can be whatever we choose.
New Moons are always a time for seeding your intention. This year, we have the bonus of the Lion’s Gate Portal occurring on the same day to superboost your manifesting powers.
The Lion’s Gate Portal happens every year on August 8 when the star Sirius rises to meet the Sun in Leo. The 8:8 of the date represents infinity—the infinite soul that we are and the infinite journey that we take. Ancients saw this time as being full of power, abundance and fertility. In a year of significant transits, this combo of Lion’s Gate and Leo New Moon is bringing us the good stuff.
Courage and creativity are words associated with Leo. The root of the word courage is “cor” which is the Latin word for heart. In its original form the word meant to ‘speak one’s mind while telling all one’s heart’. The word create means ‘to bring into being’. So here we are gifted with this opportune time: to speak our mind and heart and turn our vision into reality.
Set your sights on a goal. If your dreams don’t scare you they’re not big enough. If you don’t know every step to take along the way that’s great—work it out as you go along. Your ability to get through the unknown things in your path and accept the help of others when needed is all you have to focus on. Tap into Mercury (who is also currently in Leo) for an extra boost of mental dexterity and communicative flair.
If you have been following me for awhile, you would know that each time I speak about Leo energy I bring in the Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz. He thought he needed to be King of the Jungle, unafraid of anything and always ready for battle, yet he felt he wasn’t brave. His journey to the Wizard saw him do what he needed to do for his friends in spite of his fears, and when he asked the Wizard for Courage he was told that he already had it inside of him. Remember this the next time you feel you lack what it takes.
With all this energy swirling around it is imperative that you take full advantage of it in a wise way. Venus and Mars in Virgo are sure to bring a bit of discernment to proceedings and ensure that you get your manifestation rituals on point.
This New Moon is in the middle of two Full Moons in Aquarius. Leo and Aquarius are opposites: Leo wants us to shine as an individual while Aquarius wants us to be part of the group. It’s a reminder that the way we shine has an impact on the rest of society. We can bring like-minded people together and help them feel seen and heard.
The Saturn and Uranus squares have been a theme this year. The story there is tension between change & status quo. Saturn in Aquarius is boundaries, borders, authorities. Uranus wants freedom. The New Moon in Leo wants to stand out and have its voice heard, and to have fun while doing it. We need to look to the transformative elements of Scorpio to help us shed the skin we are outgrowing as a society.
We are living through very challenging times, and yet in some ways this has the opportunity to make us more innovative. Remember that diamonds are created out of a combination of high temperatures and pressure. Right now, life may feel difficult, but please persist with bringing your dreams into being. The world needs you and what you are creating.
